That’s all this time! I’m soon in Vaasa and the moment of truth is near. When you give your absolute best, there are no regrets. But at this point that would be quite okay. It’s possible that I will not get chosen. The ‘worst‘ thing that can happen is that you meet new people and gain new experiences. I’ve learned that in pursuit of your dreams you need to give your absolute best. I’ve definitely not in the finals because of my CV, but hard work instead. With a clear goal, burning desire and determination you can do wonderful things. After all this effort I can only say that those phrases are repeated for a reason. I’ve always been more than skeptical about motivational posters repeating the same, lame messages over and over again: “Believe in yourself”, “Hard work pays off”, “Never give up” etc. This blog is following the journey of a certain young man who decided to evolve from a regular engineering student into an international energy superstar. The hours put on this were countless, but the reward was more than I could’ve asked for. I interacted in Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Vine and different messageboards. I hosted an “ask-me-anything” -event on Reddit. I gathered ~500 followers in Facebook ( in one month!) At the peak time, final voting day, I reached over 9000 people through Facebook. I got my employer Metso and my university Metropolia to back me up in Twitter and FB. ![]() I spoke in two schools about exciting energy. Everyone enjoyed sharing my voting link, because they saw the passion and drive I had for my dream job.ĭruing these two months I went to Krakow, Stockholm, Heinola and Vaasa. People we’re so into the campaign that throughout the whole campaign I never personally asked for people to vote for me. Soon people we’re sharing my posts and asking for more ways to help. ![]() I managed to excite people around me for my cause. Everyone was so helpful, but at the same time they we’re involved in my campaign. For two months I talked about my campaign and asked for favors from my friends. I believe that this ended up being the turning point in my campaign and the key to the voting victory. ![]() In order to achieve my dream I need to start by assuring everyone around me that I’m absolutely and without-a-doubt the best choice for the job. Luckily I have amazing girlfriend and friends that have helped me to keep my focus on the task at hand. I have had my doubts about the whole thing several times. To throw myself out there so completely hasn’t of course been super-easy. To achieve that goal (energy ambassadorship) I have to work hard and start a comprehensive campaign promoting my skills and personality in every imaginable way. Since writing that text I’ve been doing the exact thing I promised. I just took a look of it and I felt quite proud of myself. It’s been a long and bumpy road and a constant battle between self-doubt and hunger for success.Īlmost two months ago I wrote my first blog post here. This post is about my journey until this point. It will be two full days of interviews and meetings, assignments and tests. ![]() It’s been a long journey already, but the most important part is still left. EnergyVaasa hosts the two-day final for the TOP-5 there. My train to Vaasa just left from Helsinki.
